Focus on Spring Break in Jamaica

Vol 1, No 4

Red Stripe and Reggae Vibes :

Ok, so we're a little partial to Jamaica. Just about everyone in the office has worked down there at some point and most of those people will tell you its their favorite Spring Break destination. The reason? There are lot of reasons; the atmosphere, the sunsets, open air parties on the beach, bonfires, and live Reggae performances to start with. But probably what's best about Spring Break in Jamaica versus some of the other hot spots for college students is that it manages to be the perfect match of both laid back and wild.

Jamaica Sunset

NEGRIL versus MONTEGO BAY:
Most students unfamiliar with Jamaica spring break recognize the name Montego Bay and assume its the larger landing spot for college kids. Negril is actually where 95% of all jamaica spring breakers go these days. In the not so recent past both were about equal size, and both have their own appeal, but if you're looking to be in the center of the action, Negril is the place to be.

This isn't Cancun. There are no indoor megaclubs with fake palm trees and no highrise hotels. The scale is definately smaller and more casual. For instance, you can meet someone on the beach and expect to be able to find them at the club later that night. You don't get lost in the crowd. The hotels are all family owned, maxed out at two stories because of a local law that requires they be built no taller than the palm trees.

A typical day involves getting up and rolling out to the world famous powder white 7 mile beach for some sunning, water fun, and vollyball. At 11am, the VIP Party Package kicks off five hours of daily open bar at Legends Beach Bar where our DJ keeps the scene lively with contests, music, games and giveaways. You can go parasailing or rent jet skis. Or you can just lounge around the crystal clear Caribbean water all day. At 4:00, the sunset booze cruises depart from the beach in front of Legends for a catamaran

boat party and some cliff diving on the West End. For everyoneelse not doing the booze cruise, sunset is all about finding your favorite spot to have a cold Red Stripe and watch the sun go down.

The bonfires get crackling as soon as its dark - the perfect place to pre-party - and then its off to whatever club is hosting the VIP event for the night. Girls, there are no high heels. All parties are open-air right on the beach. You're partying in your flip flops. On Wednesday and Friday everyone in Negril is at Margaritaville for the Mardi Gras and Foam parties. The rest of the nights are our exclusive events at place like Legends, Tamboo, Sam Sara, and Coral Seas Beach. If you've worn yourself out partying, you can always take a break from the Spring Break scene for a night to go to a concert; Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Richie Spice, Sean Paul are among others that performed in Negril during Spring Break last year.

Beyond being cool, Jamaica is one of the best values for Spring Break. It's available late in the season when destinations like Acapulco are typically sold out, has lots of inexpensive hotel options, and the VIP Party Package comes with more free drinking and is cheaper than anywhere else. If you're cool with eating jerk chicken, meals are as cheap as 4 dollars. Your dollar goes far.

Catch up on your Bob Marley, work on your Patois, and get ready for the chillest spring break imagineable. WAGAWON!
